If you get to look at dogs and hug them every day, you just might live longer than people who don’t have to clean animal hair off their clothes, according to a pair of studies out this month. R A Kearton/Getty Images hide caption If you get to look at dogs and hug them every day, you just might live longer than people who don’t have to clean animal hair off their clothes, according to a pair of studies out this month. Hugging a dog is one life’s greatest joys. Getting to see fur on four legs and a wagging tail is like experiencing a love drug — quite literally. Dogs and humans that interact with one another get a jolt of oxytocin, the so-called “cuddle hormone.” And, if you get to look at dogs and hug them every day, you just might live longer than people who don’t have to clean animal hair off their clothes, according to a pair of studies out this month. The studies, published in the journal Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes, suggest that dog ownership is linked to a 21% reduction in the risk of death — over the 12-year period studied — for people with heart disease. Those studies complement a body of literature linking dogs t...

The global heat exchangers market accounted for $16,624.0 million in 2018, and is anticipated to reach $29,316.0 million by 2026, registering a CAGR of 7.2% from 2019 to 2026

Heat Exchangers Market by Type (Shell & Tube, Plate & Frame, Air-Cooled, Microchannel, and Others), End-User Industry (Chemical, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, HVACR, Food & Beverage, Power Generation, and Others), and Material of Construction (Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Nickel, and Others): Global Opportunity Analysis and Industry Forecast, 2019—2026 The global heat exchangers market accounted for $16,624.0 million in 2018, and is anticipated to reach $29,316.0 million by 2026, registering a CAGR of 7.2% from 2019 to 2026. Heat exchangers are devices designed to transfer heat between two or more fluids and between a solid surface and fluids at different temperatures. Heat exchangers are highly labor-intensive to produce, which is attributed to the long welding hours that are required. The different types of heat exchangers products and dimensions reduce manufacturing efficiency. This is one of the major reasons production is increasingly being shifted to developing countries owing to availability of cheap labor. Only the standard products are manufactured in developing countries as of now; however, in future, custom-made heat exchangers are anticipated to...

ITBP, Sikkim tenders 10 KW and 5 KW solar projects for border outposts

The Indo-Tibetan Border (ITB) Police Force at Lingdum in East Sikkim has invited bids for supply and installation of 10 KWp and 5 KWp solar power plants at its five border outposts. Being a part of inner ranges of the mountains of Himalaya, the state of Sikkim has difficult terrain. The Indo-Tibetan Border (ITB) Police Force at Lingdum in East Sikkim has invited bids for supply and installation of 10 KWp solar power plants at Muguthang and Naku border outposts (BOPs), and 5 KWp solar power plants at Zanak, Latok and 20R BOPs of its 13th battalion. Bidders are encouraged to enquire about site conditions as the BOPs are located at high-altitude area. Notably, being a part of inner ranges of the mountains of Himalaya, the state of Sikkim has no plains but elevations ranging from 300 to 8583 metres above means sea level. For most of the period in a year, the climate is cold and humid as rainfall occurs each month. The area experiences a heavy rainfall due to its proximity to the Bay of Bengal. Solar energy can be used to electrify BOPs located in remote border areas. Last year, PTI reported that Gujarat Frontier of the Border Security Force (BSF) was going to set up a 5 MW solar ene...

Tenn. woman says she got serious bacterial infection from nail salon, costing her hundreds

Tenn. woman says she got serious bacterial infection from nail salon, costing her hundreds. Photos by Chelsea Loyd MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WZTV) — A Murfreesboro woman is pushing for awareness, after she claims she got a serious bacterial infection from a local nail salon, costing her hundreds in medical bills. “It’s not pretty, it’s awful,” Loyd said, as she looked down at her foot, which is still healing. She says a rash broke out on her left foot just hours after getting a gel pedicure at the Vogue Nail Bar in Murfreesboro off of Medical Center Parkway on September 16th. Two days later, painful blisters started showing up. Loyd says her doctor told her she had a bacterial infection believed to be staph. She needed a steroid shot, antibiotics and foot cream. “Now I have medical bills that I’m now responsible for, for something that happened to me by going to get a pedicure,” Loyd said. She went back to the nail salon, showed them her foot, and the owner wrote her a $307 check to cover the cost of the pedicure and her medical bills, even though Vogue Nail Bar Manager Susan Nguyen tells FOX 17 News there’s no way to prove that Loyd’s condition came from their salon. A few da...

How To Clean The Inner Wall Of A Seamless Steel Pipe

Everyone knows that seamless steel pipes will have oil stains and oxide scales generated by welding and some other dirt during the production process. The outer wall is better cleaned: if it is oily, it can be washed with organic solvent or lye. If it is rusted, use a special rust remover. But how can the inner wall be cleaned up thoroughly? Today we will introduce to you.If the cleanliness is high, use ultrasonic to clean:Ultrasonic cleaning principle: The sudden change of sound pressure when ultrasonic waves propagate in liquid causes a strong air phenomenon in the liquid, which generates millions of tiny cavitation bubbles per second. These bubbles are rapidly generated in large quantities under the action of sound pressure. The ground violently blasts, producing a powerful impact and negative suction, enough to quickly remove stubborn dirt.If the steel pipe is long and you have a sink, you can buy the ultrasonic vibration plate and put it into the water for ultrasonic cleaning. If it is not too long, you can use the ultrasonic vibration bar, insert it into the pipe for cleaning, and then rinse off the dirt with ultrasonic waves. The method of removing oxide scale and rust on ...

Implant microchips as work ID? Why, when an app, Bluetooth work fine

After Wisconsin firm made a splash by implanting chips on employees, few firms followed suit. And now, there’s an app that can do the same thing. This conversation is moderated according to USA TODAY’s community rules. Please read the rules before joining the discussion. After a Wisconsin firm embedded microchips in its employees, social media wants to know–is my company next? Jefferson Graham has the answer, on #TalkingTech. Access technology is playing a huge role in offices, where buildings are more security conscious, and badges and fobs that used to be required just for entry now also get you up and down the elevator and into the company network.  A Wisconsin firm made a splash in 2017 by announcing a plan to voluntarily implant microchips in employees, not for being tracked but as a replacement for the company badge.  Now, a Los Angeles startup says it can now offer the same perks of entry without reaching for a badge or access card, and it’s app-based. Openpath is working with Domino’s, Bird Scooter and tech firm the Leaf Group to let employees come and go with “mobile credentials.” A woman waves to an OpenPath sensor to gain ent...

Here’s how to conduct monthly electric tests to prevent fire, shock

Thanks to Benjamin Franklin’s discovery of electricity and Thomas Edison’s invention of the lightbulb, civilization no longer functions by candlelight. We can cook a meal in minutes with a zap of the microwave and click on the TV instead of watching awkward puppet shows for entertainment. However, the convenience of electricity comes with its fair share of responsibility. An area that tends to be overlooked when it comes to maintaining our homes is the usage, condition and safety of our electrical systems. According to FEMA’s December 2018 report, from 2014 to 2016, an estimated 24,000 residential building electrical fires were reported by U.S. fire departments annually. These fires caused an estimated 310 deaths, 850 injuries and $871 million in property loss. Electrical fires accounted for 6% of all residential building fires. “In many cases, these fires could have been prevented with a biennial electrical systems check-up,” said Noel Pena, electrician, Fox Valley Electric, a Rosie-Certified Partner. In addition to the check-up, make sure you have smoke alarms installed on every level of your home, inside of every bedroom and outside of each sleeping area. It is important to ...
